What does a share cost?

This depends on which share size you choose:

An extra large share (a.k.a. "vegan share" or "kill me with veggies share") costs $800 for the 20 week season.  This share is jam packed with an average $40 worth of fresh organic veggies each week.  If you eat almost strictly vegetables, or have a large veggie eating family, and almost never eat out, this could be the share for you.

Regular Harvest Shares cost $550 for the entire 20 week season.  You'll receive an average of $25-$27 worth of fresh organic produce each week. This is for an average veggie eating family that does nearly all of their cooking at home. The two of us (not vegetarians) use up a regular share and more in our veggie-heavy household, with one meal out per week.

Small harvest shares cost $375 for 20 weeks.  With this share, made for couples or small families that eat outside the home a bit, you'll receive an average of $16-19 of fresh local organic produce each week.

What are my payment options?

For your convenience, we are offering you the ability to pay by credit card! In order to help us cover the cost of this service, we will add a 3.5% fee to credit card transactions.  Of course, you can always mail us a check and avoid the fee! The credit card surcharge will appear in the "total"--don't be alarmed!  If you choose the "pay by invoice" option (this is to pay by check), the surcharge will be removed.  We do offer a payment plan.  Contact us for details.

What happens if I don't pick up my box?

If you'll be away and can't pick up your box, let us know in advance and we'll issue you a vacation credit which may be used to double a box when you're having company (you can do this yourself through the member portal) , or to "spend" at our farmers market booth (in Boone or Hickory)at any time during the season.  You can let us know you'll be away and unable to pick up your box through your member portal (we need to know by midnight Monday the week you'll be gone). Otherwise, if you don't pick up your box, we'll donate it to the local food bank. Vacation credits must be used within the same calendar year.

How much produce will I get each week?
A regular harvest share generally includes 6 to 10 items.  If you are a large family, or a medium to small family preparing most of your meals at home and eating a primarily vegetarian or especially a vegan diet, you might consider an extra-large share. If you are a small family or eat out at least a couple of times per week, you may want to consider splitting the share with a friend or neighbor. Some examples of some regular shares throughout the season are:

How many people does this feed?

The Regular Harvest Share will feed two adults with a healthy appetite for vegetables. It will accommodate two adults with a moderate vegetable appetite along with two or so kids.  If you are uncertain about being able to use all the produce, you might find friends to split the share with, either by divvying up the box each week or taking alternate weeks for the entire share. If you have a large family or a vegan family, and cook nearly all your meals at home, you might consider an extra-large share.

What types of vegetables can I expect to find in my box?

It depends on the season. Check out the harvest calendar to get an idea of what to expect.  The harvest calendar includes our core crops; we also grow many new crops that we’ll throw in for a taste bud tease!

How does the low income share support work?

By giving an extra $20 (one time) with your registration, you help to subsidize a share for a less fortunate family.  Please consider giving this small amount extra; the more members who contribute, the more low income shares we can support! You can also donate your vacation credits to the low income share program.

These are the frequently asked questions, don't forget about these questions you should ask yourself before signing up for a harvest share!
